These Galician chestnuts (from the provinces of Ourense and Lugo) are cooked, peeled and packed quickly to retain their natural clean, sweet, chestnutty flavour and firm texture. Part of the Galician mountain cuisine since they were first cultivated by the Romans in the first century AD, these little morsels are ideal for adding a little texture and earthy flavour to stews and soups, sliced and stirred into greens, used as part of a stuffing or blitzed with sugar to make a sweet filling.

Dating back to 1955, José Posada González was the first Spanish businessman to build a factory dedicated to transforming Galicia' famous chestnuts into a global product using only the best quality raw material cooked as simply as possible.

Alexandre Dumas confirms the importance of these sweet treasures in Recollections of the Journey from Paris to Cadiz (1847) "France is known for its truffles, Castile for its olives, Catalonia for its plums and Galicia for its chestnuts."
