De la Torre society was founded in 1928 by acquiring a mill where molasses have been made since 1630 and changing its name from San Raimundo Mill to Ingenio Nuestra Señora del Carmen from then until now, the company continues to fight so that this heritage does not disappear and that the ancestral recipe of Frigiliana's sugarcane molasses endures, with all its traditional dishes, as well as encouraging innovation in the new generations.
Currently the only cane honey factory that exists in continental Europe and is known worldwide for its excellent quality. Sugarcane is hardly gown in any parts of Europe, as most exotic farmers spend their time on other specialties. The only place in Europe where sugarcane can be grown is the Axarquía in Malaga and the Costa Tropical in Granada.
Best known for its uses in Málaga and Granada as sugarcane honey because of its taste and texture it can be served with a variety of cheeses, citric fruits, natural yoghurt and as a great alternative to honey.
