Natural Whole Black Kalamata Olives from Greece. Kalamata olives are a variety of large, dark purple olives with a smooth, meaty texture, named after the city of Kalamata in the southern Peloponnese, Greece.
Started in the 1930s by Domingos Ribeiro Macarico selling ready to eat olives, he pioneered selling the typically Portuguese variety of tree ripened “Galega” olives. Later the Portuguese Macarico brand branched out into sauces and pickles amongst other food products.
