Adorned with the face of Francisco Rodriguez Tenório, the origin of Tenório tuna dates back to 1961 in the Algarve, based in Vila Real de Santo António. With the scarcity of tuna in the Algarve seas, they move to the Azores archipelago, a privileged place for tuna to pass through on its migratory route.
It is currently an exclusively Azorean company, with its industrial centres located on the islands of Pico (Madalena do Pico), S. Miguel (Rabo de Peixe) and Horta (Faial).
